Complete the status check as the tool directs, review the result, and save any instructions it gives for correcting a mismatch. My Voter Status is not a public browse-all-voters directory. If an entry seems missing or stale, move to the county channel instead of trying random personal details. A recipient must interpret each part in context. Registration data identifies how the elections system stores the voter. Participation history says that a person took part through a stated method. District data describes representation geography. None of these files discloses how anyone marked a ballot.
Montclair Voter Privacy Rules
California Elections Code section 2194(b) excludes a driver's license number, state identification number, the last four digits of a Social Security number, a unique identifier, and a signature or digitized signature from voter-file production. Pre-registration records for people who have not yet reached voter status are also left out. Confidential voter registration records under Elections Code sections 2166, 2166.5, 2166.7, and 2166.8 are not supplied through an ordinary approved file request.

Fees and available media should be checked on the current county form before submission. A filtered product is still governed by the same eligibility, security, and permitted-use limits as a broader file.
Historical Montclair Voter Registers
Current voter systems are a poor fit for genealogy. The Arda Haenszel California Room lists the Great Register of San Bernardino County for 1880 through 1886. Those volumes predate Montclair's incorporation, so researchers should search county geography and older community names rather than expect a modern city heading.
Montclair was incorporated as Monte Vista in 1956 and renamed in 1958. A family-history search may therefore need Monte Vista, Narod, Ontario, or Pomona Valley references.
